Modern Art Oxford

Modern Art Oxford was originally established in 1966, and variously known over the years as The Museum of Modern Art, and MOMA before chaning its name to Modern Art Oxford in 2002. In 2016 it has begun hosting gigs in the downstairs room, (previously Cafe MOMA).

Location and Transport

30 Pembroke Street

Modern Art Oxford stands on the corner of Pembroke Street and St Ebbes, just a couple of minutes walk from Carfax and all major bus stops. The entrance is via the glass doorways on Pembroke Street. Parking in central Oxford is limited, but once the Westgate rebuild is completed, there will be ample evening parking just a few minutes walk away.


Modern Art Oxford is a fully accessible venue and has a lift.

Information for Promoters

The basement has a capacity of 100 standing (65 seated) and has a sound booth. It has some stage lighting and a ceiling-mounted projector which can be used for projecting images onto a screen behind the band. The ground floor of the venue houses the cafeteria which can sell food and drink during events.
